Gasoline went down by 17.3 cents per litre, diesel by three cents per litre and kerosene by 3.4 cents per litre.

The maximum retail prices displayed at the pumps are now:

Gasoline $1.64/litre

Diesel $1.46/litre

Kerosene $1.22.6/litre

Gas prices had been rising since July, 2004 when the cost of crude oil began to soar. The price of a litre of gasoline then was $1.33.

The eight-bed women's residential centre for recovering addicts could be on the move.

The National Drug Control Ministry is applying to relocate from Cambridge Road, Sandys to Middle Road, Southampton.

National Drug Control Minister Wayne Perinchief explained the lease in Sandys is up at the end of November but he assured Southampton residents the women would be no trouble.

He said: "It's for them to be integrated into society. It's supervised."

Nearly 100 members of the tourism industry from chief executives to frontline employees are to join together to clean some of Bermuda's most prestigious beaches.

Volunteers will spend four hours clearing 1.5 miles of shorefront at Horseshoe Bay, Warwick Long Bay and Chaplin Bay of invasive species of trees as well as planting native varieties to help to preserve the dunes.

Work on Sunday, October 1 will include clearing and hauling branches to chippers and carrying native species to planting sites as well as preparation and planting.

Those slated to be involved include Tourism Minister Ewart Brown and Bermuda Hotel Association executive director John Harvey.

A large amount of industrial equipment was stolen from a Waller's Point Road, St. George's business on Sunday night.

Items taken include two marine generators, four circular saws, two compressors, two welding kits, fibreglass materials, four VHF antennas, two hydraulic steering kits, 25 cases of marine oil, an unknown quantity of bilge pumps and seven batteries.

A Pembroke man has appeared in court charged with a series of sexual offences.

The 41-year-old, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, faces six allegations relating to sexual exploitation of a young person.

The six charges relate to alleged incidents between February 2004 and March 2006.

No pleas were entered and the case was adjourned until September 29. Bail was granted in the sum of $5,000.
