A style only the hardcore fan can enjoy

Guess who: Klopp will hope for a winning start to life in England(Photograph by Jon Super/AP)

If Jürgen Klopp styles his teams to play “heavy metal” football, then Sam Allardyce must prefer hardcore rave — aggressive, repetitive and enjoyed only when you're off your face on hallucinogens.

The two managers cut interesting figures this week as they settled into their new jobs at Liverpool and Sunderland respectively.

Klopp, a man who did exceptional things at Borussia Dortmund, played himself down as “the normal one” and, more convincingly, “not Jesus”. Allardyce, meanwhile, a man with a track record heavy on, erm, mid-table finishes, released a book slagging off West Ham United, Arsène Wenger and Rafa Benítez, modestly adding that he should have got the England job over Steve McClaren.

There's a clue in there, perhaps, of why Germany are world champions and England routinely get exposed at major tournaments.

Anyway, it's fair to say there will be more eyes on White Hart Lane, where Klopp takes charge of Liverpool for the first time, than at the Hawthorns this weekend.

The Anfield club represents a huge challenge for the German but his arrival is a real coup for the Premier League.

Rave is so Nineties — let's get ready to rock.

11am kick off unless stated

Tomorrow's games

Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool

8.45am

Liverpool have a good record against Spurs — they have won their past five games against them — but the home side are on a roll and unbeaten in seven.

They'll be wary of the lift Klopp will likely inspire but, after just a few days with the players, Tottenham are perfectly placed to bring the German back to earth.

Prediction: 1-1

Chelsea v Aston Villa

Spoilt ten-year-olds have whinged less than José Mourinho of late. Half the dressing room has come out in the past week and professed their love of the Portuguese so now is their time to deliver for the manager.

Chelsea have been poor of late but Villa are on a terrible run of four straight defeats.

Prediction: 3-1

Crystal Palace v West Ham United

Both sides have made impressive starts to the season — and West Ham are the best away side with ten points out of 12.

Palace, though, are fourth and flying high. Got a feeling for the away team here, though.

Prediction: 1-2

Everton v Manchester United

How much has that defeat to Arsenal knocked United? This game at Goodison Park will test them out with Everton in good form and with Ross Barkley impressing in midfield.

A good start for the home side and they will be hard to peg back.

Prediction: 2-1

Manchester City v Bournemouth

Eddie Howe has signed a new contract, which must be a ray of light given the club's injury worries. Captain Tommy Elphick is the latest player struck down.

No Sergio Agüero for City, which must be a blow for all those who had him as skipper last time out (he scored five). Home win, surely.

Prediction: 3-0

Southampton v Leicester City

Graziano Pellè is a Fantasy shoo-in right now and he should get plenty of chances to add to his season's tally against a leaky Leicester defence.

The away side are a potent attacking force, however — there should be goals in this one.

Prediction: 3-2

West Bromwich Albion v Sunderland

Big Tony v Big Sam = a big scrap! Likely to be few points for artistic impression but a draw will be a solid result for Sunderland.

Prediction: 1-1

Watford v Arsenal

1.30pm

If Arsenal really do have title aspirations, this is a game they should win. Watford will present a tight defensive line so it's up to the likes of Mesut Özil and Alexis Sánchez to break them down.

Prediction: 0-2

Sunday's game

Newcastle United v Norwich City

Noon

Poor old Newcastle. A good first half at City and they still get hammered 6-1 — and now their keeper Tim Kruhl is out with a serious injury. Every potential shoot of recovery is emphatically trampled on.

Norwich, in thirteenth, are proving a capable outfit at this level.

Prediction: 1-1

Monday's game

Swansea v Stoke City

4pm

Swansea have stalled a little since their excellent start and Stoke went into the international break on the back of two straight wins. Let's go with the in-form team.

Prediction: 0-1
