Bermuda Basketball Association's Premier Division after each posted victories

Twisters continue to head the tables by a half game with a 7-0 record, having played one more match than Young Guns.

The latest team to feel the unforgiving wrath of Twisters, who have not lost a match in over a year, were Champion Rebels who went down 97-69 with leading scorer Kit Mueller hitting 28 points and team-mate Casey 29.

John Leon scored 17.

Meanwhile, Young Guns exploded for a 79-45 pasting of Falcons, led by Ijumo Hayward's 20 points while point guard Kevin Stovell added 18, including four from beyond the three-point arc.

Thus, a battle of the unbeatens has been secured for this Sunday when Twisters meet Young Guns in a highly anticipated affair.

In other Premier Division matches, Twisters defeated Gatorade Roughnecks 75-59 behind Mueller's 26 points, Fenton's Drive downed Bank of Bermuda 62-60 as Lou Matthews scored 22, Roughnecks edged Hot Shots 55-54 and Bank of Bermuda beat Bermuda College 63-41.

In the just started Youth Division, Spurs ran away to a 60-25 triumph over Magic behind A.Bean's 22 points while Pierre Thomas (13) led Rockets to a 44-17 hammering of Hornets.

The Adult Recreation Division saw Sea venture pip La Com Scan Re 45-42, and True Value Panthers get past Cablevision 50-21.

JUNIOR GOLF GLF Local junior golfer Michael Sims, who carded an even-par 72 in the first round of the Annual World Junior Championships in San Diego, slipped back with an eight-over 80 in Wednesday's second round -- but still leads the Bermuda contingent., Robbie Spurling follows, having carded a second round 81 while Craig Brown and David James shot 80 and 79 respectively.

In order for Sims to make the cut for the final round he was expected to need a score in the mid-70s yesterday while Spurling would have needed a score close to par.

Wednesday's leader of the tournament was American Boyd Summerhays with rounds of 69 and 72.

Following the Junior Worlds, Sims will travel to another AJGA event while Spurling, Brown and James will attend the David Leadbetter Golf School in Bradenton, Florida as a tune-up for their appearance at the American Tournament of Champions in Ohio where Spurling is the defending champion.

SOCCER SOC Four teams advanced to the quarter-finals of the Coca Cola Kenny Thompson Soccer Classic with victories on Wednesday evening at Cedar Grove School field.

Leading the parade were Curve International who easily defeated Devonshire Colts 3-1 to set up a contest against Elite Choice, 2-1 extra-time winners over Quality Street.

In and Out trounced Warwick 5-2 to likewise advance, while 'Bama Boys earned their berth with a 2-0 default triumph over Forties.

FISHING FSH Blue Waters Anglers Club amassed 2571 points to Sea and Surf's 1923 points on the opening day of their fishing tournament.

High rod for the day on 20-lb test line was Eugene Raynor with 137 points while on the 30-lb test line Victor Cann collected 120 points.
