Local students have had a special visitor this week: children’s author Tish Rabe has been calling at a few schools, with a special presentation set for 2pm today at the Youth Library auditorium.

The United States writer, also a singer and songwriter, has penned a wide variety of children’s books, but is especially known for taking over the works of Dr Seuss, who died in 1991.

Today’s event, which had been scheduled originally for the Berkeley Institute cafetorium, is free but seating will be limited. Ms Rabe’s visit is part of Library Sign-Up Month, marked through September by the Bermuda National Library.

“With each one, I try to come up with new and creative ideas,” Ms Rabe told The Royal Gazette earlier this month.

“I think about what the children are going to learn from the book and what is going to involve them.”

Books for Sesame Street, Disney, Blue’s Clues, Curious George and Huff and Puff are among Ms Rabe’s 165 published works.

She has just submitted her 19th book for Dr Seuss Enterprises.
