Police are on high alert this weekend in response to the bloodshed of last weekend.

That outbreak of violence saw three men shot in the space of three days.

Prince Edness, 21, was shot and injured in the area of Court Street, Pembroke early last Friday morning.

Another 21-year-old, Julian Washington, was shot and injured in the parking lot of the Mid Atlantic Boat Club in Devonshire early on Monday.

That was followed, 30 minutes later, by the gun murder of Raymond (Yankee) Rawlins a notorious Court Street gang affiliate <\!m> as he entered the Spinning Wheel nightclub.

Police have said all three shootings are linked to an ongoing rivalry between the Parkside and 42 gangs. They are now braced for retaliatory attacks.

Officers watched over the funeral of Mr. Rawlins at the First Church of God in Devonshire yesterday, and his wake, which saw Court Street blocked off to traffic.

Police spokesman Dwayne Caines confirmed that high-visibility patrols will continue this weekend.

"There will be a high Police presence in and around Bermuda, particularly at critical areas of concern around the Island," he said.

"Police are acutely aware of the concerns of the community, and resources will be put in place consistent with the resources in place over the Cup Match weekend period. They will be highly visible and highly mobile. It's clearly in response to the recent activity."
