Gunn takes 31st place

Teenager Ryan Gunn finished in 31st position in the boys triathlon at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games in Singapore with a time of one hour, four minutes, 34 seconds.

Gunn, 17, performed the 750 metre swim in 11.08, finished the 20km bike course in 43.15 before running the 5km in a time of 43.37.

He finished in last place in Sunday's race.

After originally missing out on a qualifying spot, even though he shattered his personal best at the ITU meet in Monterrey, Mexico, Gunn was invited to compete by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), who offered him one of their universality spots.

Also competing for Bermuda in South East Asia is middle distance runner Taylor Ashley-Bean, sprinter Jeneko Place and sailor Owen Siese.

Officials Xavier James, Pablo Webber and Stephen Gunn have accompanied Bermuda's Chef-de-Mission, Patty Petty, to the Games.

The Youth Olympic Games, which will be held every four years, provide qualifying young athletes, aged 14 to 18 years, with the opportunity to compete for their countries at the top level.
