Halifax and London on Premier's college tour
Premier Ewart Brown will next week begin another tour to meet Bermudian university students overseas and persuade them to come home after college.
He will be joined by Kanika Cameron, a human resources specialist at Butterfield Bank, on his first stop next Friday at the World Trade Convention Centrein Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Ms Cameron, 26, will be the guest speaker and will talk with students about opportunities available on the Island for graduates and tell them about her involvement with Butterfield Bank's management trainee programme.
The Institute for Chartered Accountants Bermuda is also expected to send a representative.
The Premier, whose first college tour took place last year, said yesterday: "I plan to capitalise on the dialogue and energy we generated last time so that young people know we are consistently thinking about them even though they spend only part of the year here in Bermuda. Last year, students and employers built some extremely valuable relationships."
The Halifax college tour will include a networking reception and dinner plus a question-and-answer session when students can talk to Dr. Brown in an open forum.
The Premier is also scheduled to meet with Nova Scotia Premier Rodney MacDonald while in Halifax, as well as Canadian Tourism and Transportation officials. His next college stop will be in London.
