Arnold has parted ways with the Department of Tourism, the agency said, citing workload brought on by a $90 million account from Hershey's.

The tourism office had launched its mandatory review last month, just before Hershey's announced it would split its account between the Havas agency and independent North Castle Group in Stamford, Connecticut.

Arnold declined to defend the $10 million business, an agency representative told the trade paper Adweek.

Tourism Minister Ewart Brown said last night that he would not comment until the completion of the review process.

Dawn of a new era for tourism

Tourism can look forward to a new dawn next summer - the mega cruise liner Norwegian Dawn.

The tourism industry received a welcome boost with news the Island has been included in the giant boat's summer schedule.

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) Corporation confirmed its New York ship will calling at the Island for the 2006 and 2007 summer seasons, bringing thousands more tourists to Bermuda's shores.

The year round boat's new seven-day itinerary includes a day in Bermuda, a visit to NCL's private island, Great Stirrup Cay and an overnight stay in the Bahamas.

NCL president Colin Veitch said: “Bermuda is an extremely popular cruise destination and is a favourite of cruise passengers.”
