BFA meegint will focus on Ziese

week to learn more about the role of Technical Director of Coaching Burkhard Ziese in the aftermath of problems which have recently cropped up. Matters associated with the national programme will also be on the table.

The BFA is hoping to inform everyone during the council meeting scheduled for April 27 -- a session that has ostensibly been called to clear up the many concerns affiliates now have, particularly about Ziese.

BFA Administrative Assistant David Sabir yesterday confirmed the role of the Technical Director is uppermost on the agenda along with related policies and procedures for the national programme.

However, there was no indication the meeting was called because the BFA was becoming increasingly impatient over affiliates' griping about the authority Ziese has been handed.

"It's a good practise to inform the affiliates on how we are trying to make strides in soccer,'' said Sabir. "By supplying them with the correct information is the only way to achieve this.'' Clubs which have signed a petition calling for a special meeting, are anxious to see the outcome of the session.

They had been pushing to have their grievances dealt with by the executive committee next week.

Meanwhile, Parents Recourse Institute for Drug Education (PRIDE) yesterday supported BFA president Charlie Marshall in his criticism this week that clubs have to depend on liquor sales to operate and improve their facilities.

Through chairperson Pauline Richardson, a press release said that they supported the BFA president in his call for assistance in upgrading the Island's sporting facilities, but indicated that they also supported "any attempt to diminish the degree to which alcohol is linked with sports and entertainment events.''
