Office staff to receive overdue recognition

But now the efforts of those who ensure the smooth running of offices throughout Bermuda will receive recognition.Several events have been organised next week to honour the contributions of office staff such as secretaries, administrative assistants, computer assistants, project administrators and office supervisors.

But now the efforts of those who ensure the smooth running of offices throughout Bermuda will receive recognition.

Several events have been organised next week to honour the contributions of office staff such as secretaries, administrative assistants, computer assistants, project administrators and office supervisors.

Administrative Professionals Week will be held April 20- 26 and the official Administrative Professional Day is Wednesday, April 23.

The group behind the events is the Bermuda Branch of the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP).

Government MP Dale Butler and Education Minister Paula Cox will both participate as keynote speakers. The theme for this year is "The Power of Professionalism."

The schedule is as follows:

Monday, April 21: The Bermuda Chapter of International Association of Administrative Professionals buffet breakfast at La Coquille. The speaker for the breakfast is Mr. Dale Butler JP, MP.

Wednesday, April 23: The Bermuda Chapter of International Association of Administrative Professionals workshops will be held from 9-11.15 a.m. at the Bermuda College. Presenters to include Cindy Swan and William Spriggs. Lunch follows at the Stonington Beach Hotel from 12 Noon to 1.30 p.m. (seating will begin at 11.30 a.m.) The keynote speaker for the luncheon is Education Minister. Paula Cox. A live satellite teleconference will be held in the afternoon from 1.45- 4:30 p.m. The broadcast will feature Bob Nelson (a best selling author) and Ollie Jo Bozeman CPS/CAP (International President of IAAP).

The official theme for the teleconference is "Future Skills, What You Need to Succeed in 2003 and Beyond".
