Under 15s excel at camp
Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) boss Reggie Pearman has hailed a recent Elite Training Camp as a success and an integral part of Bermuda Under 15s preparations for regional competition this summer.
The camp, conducted by BCB development director Arnold Manders, national coaches Gus Logie, Herbie Bascome and Andre Manders and national team skipper Irving Romaine, saw players partake in indoor and outdoor sessions designed to enhance their technical ability and fitness.
Pearman said: "I'm extremely pleased that the BCB's first Elite Training Camp was a success. The aim of this camp was to focus on building our young player's technical ability and skill-base to improve their physical fitness, work with them on understanding the mental aspects of the game.
"An important part of our national programme is to introduce to the young national players the level it takes to train on a national team. This is an important year for our U15s who will be taking part in the U15 ICC Regional Qualifier which we hope to host in Bermuda in August.
During the elite camp players observed video analysis of their own batting, bowling and fielding performances and were introduced to sports psychology.
They were also shown motivational videos on commitment, responsibility and work ethic.
Outdoor sessions involved running between the wickets, bowling at targets, batting in pairs, hitting straight over the top, playing along the ground, demonstrations on bowling actions, batting and fielding positions.
