Churches celebrate anniversaries

Today

Marsden First United Church presents a marriage round-table discussion, Why In The World Did I Get Married?, tonight at 6pm. Three local couples will answer anonymous questions about marriage in a fun, non-threatening environment. A light dinner will also be served. Call 293-7045 for more information. Tomorrow

Peace Lutheran Church will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a special dinner and worship service at 4pm. People are encouraged to come and praise God for 50 years of ministry. Cobbs Hill Methodist Church will celebrate its 187th anniversary with two services of praise, worship and thanks. The guest speaker at the 9.30am service will be Rev Judith Gardner of St Paul AME Church. Pastor Dean Smith of the Open Door Christian Assembly will speak at 4pm. All are welcome.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint will host an event featuring Elder Donald L Hallstrom, a leading authority of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Salt Lake City, Utah. He will speak on Family — Which is Central to God’s Plan of Happiness. The service will take place at 15 Wilkinson Avenue (next to Crystal Caves) from 11.45am until 1.45pm. The Salvation Army in St George’s will host a sale and luncheon from 10am to 3pm at St Peter’s Hall, 33 Duke of York Street. The cost of the luncheon is $8. For more information call 297-0267.

November 23

Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church will have a Thanksgiving brunch from 12.30pm at Astwood Hall (the pink church on the corner of Church and Courts Streets). Tickets are $25 for adults or $10 for children. To reserve tickets call the church office on 292-7601 or e-mail pinkchurch@logic.bm.

November 29

The Hamilton Seventh-day Adventist Church will be hosting a special thanksgiving celebration to all Service Workers who helped clean-up after the two recent storms on Saturday, November 29 at 5pm. It will be followed by a concert of male voices made up from all the Seventh-day Adventist churches. E-mail ramory@bermudaconference.bm to RSVP your attendance.

November 30

Echelon International will hold Bermuda’s first a cappella competition, Joyful Noise!, at 7pm at the Ruth Seaton James Centre for the Perming Arts. The night will be one of inspiration and fun. Tickets, $50, can be purchased online (www.BDATix.bm) or by calling 232-2255.

Bethel AME’s Women’s Day Celebrations will commence with two special services at 11am and 4pm. The guest speaker will be Rev Conitras Houston Moore from Greater Ward Chapel AME Church in Columbus, Georgia. The theme will be Jewels of the Kingdom: Empowered Women Embracing Lost Souls. There will also be lunch served for $15.

Cobbs Hill Methodist Church will hold a special Sunday puppet ministry performance featuring The SOLID Rock Puppet Ministry at 9.40am.

December 6

Saint Andrew’s Presbyterian Church presents its pre-Christmas table sale at Astwood Hall (the pink church on the corner of Church and Court Streets) on Saturday, December 6 from 9am to 4pm. There will be a huge variety of baked goods and gifts on sale. Refreshments will be on offer.

December 20

Inter-Island Communications will host its second annual gospel concert on Saturday, December 20 at 7pm at the Ruth Seaton James Centre for Performing Arts. It will feature 2014 Bermuda Idol Olivia Hamilton, Calvin Busby, Janice Pearman, Tricay, the Vernon Temple Praise Team, the Richard Allen AME Young Adult Network Praise Team, the Agape Faith Kingdom Ministries Praise Team, the Restoration Ministries Seventh Day Adventist Praise Team, The Five Keys and Bermuda Soul Recording Artist Kaelyn Kastle. Tickets go on sale on Monday at 27th Century Boutique, Music Box and the HOTT 107.5 and Magic 102.7 studios.
