Breaking News: Shooting on Glebe Road

Police swarmed Glebe Road in Pembroke this afternoon after a man was shot on the street in broad daylight.

Sources told The Royal Gazette the man ran into a house shouting “help me, help me, I’ve been shot”, before a private car arrived and rushed him off to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Police have cordoned off a 50-metre stretch of the road near the Yardie Kitchen restaurant, but say they are not yet in a position to give details of who the victim is or how badly he has been injured. Three armed Policemen are guarding the area at the moment.

Officers refuse to comment on speculation at the scene that the man is a member of the Parkside gang and was shot in the back.

Speaking a few moments ago, Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said: “Police received a report of gunshots on Glebe Road a few minutes before 4 p.m. Police responded, and on arrival at Glebe Road, it was ascertained that a man had been shot and is in King Edward VII Memorial Hospital as we speak, receiving treatment.

“The name of the man and the nature of his injuries are unknown to Police at this point. But the area has been cordoned off and officers from the Serious Crime Unit, as well as other Police units, are starting initial investigations.”

Mr. Caines appealed for anyone with information that can assist the inquiry to contact Chief Inspector Calvin Smith on 295-0011 or the confidential Crimestoppers hotline on 1-800-623-8477.
