Pretty in Pink: 'Beach party of the year' at Snorkel Park

July is almost here and it means that it is not only time for hitting the beach but also time for Unité's annual Pink Party.

The revelry will take place at Snorkel Park on July 5.

Unité party planner Belcario Thomas spoke to The Royal Gazette about this year's event, the DJs and the ambiance.

"It is where Bermuda meets South Beach and the Island comes together for the Best of Bermuda Gold Award winning promotions," he said. "It is the annual beach party of the year at Snorkel Park.

"It will be an open air, sensuous and seductive night of fresh live performances, big giveaways and a dazzling nightclub light show, which will feature a deep line up of 12 Top 40 DJs individually specialising in Reggae, R&B, Rock, Dance remixes Hip Hop and Soca."

Mr. Thomas said the event will include performances by Roachekilla, C' Danger, Jake & Lenny, China & Bussy, FRISKY, Black Star, OB1, Scoobay, Awesome, DeejayChoice, Kaos, The Dirkinstan Freedom Fighters and D'General.

"This will all be orchestrated by Unité resident DJ Chubb and hosted by radio personality Vybez Alliance with a surprise performance in store," he said. "There will also be appearances by the Pink Party Go Go Dancers."

Mr. Thomas recommended that partygoers arrive before 10 p.m. to enjoy the Mambo White Party fashion show teaser.

Door prizes will include a $4,000 Pink Mio Scooter, a trip to Miami, CellularONE Blackberry Pearl, an iPod and White Party giveaways.

He added that there would also be a special performance by the Reggae band HomeGrown.

The drink service will include several Goslings speed bars. "There'll be little wait time for the inexpensive beer and cocktail specials on tap all night long," Mr. Thomas said. Transportation to the West End will be made easier with fast ferries set to run at 6.30, 8, 9, 10 and 11 p.m. delivering ravers to Dockyard from Hamilton. And a Mega Ferry will be waiting to take people back at 3.15 and 4.15 a.m.

There are limited advance tickets, $50, which go on sale from June 20 at CellularONE, Reid and Burnaby Streets, Sasch and Stefanel, the iStore, Music World and Snorkel Park. Tickets are $60 at the door. Tickets include two complimentary drinks and return mega ferry fare. The dress code is pink or white tops preferred. Part proceeds will benefit the TB & Cancer Association in memory of Belcario, Marico, Bethanne and Marquita's mother, Clara L.L. Thomas, who passed away last year.
