Prowler jailed for a year
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 5: A convicted prowler was sentenced to a year in prison after he was found outside a St. David’s home.
David Fubler, a 49-year-old painter from Palmetto Road, Devonshire, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court today to prowling.
Crown counsel Carrington Mahoney said Police were on patrol on St. David’s Road at around 10.30 p.m. on Wednesday when they noticed a motorcycle parked on a property with the key in the ignition.
The officers spotted Fubler standing in the middle of the lawn. He told officers the house wasn’t his and that he was there to urinate.
He did not explain why he was attempting to urinate on a stranger’s lawn.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo noted that Fubler had previous convictions for breaking and entering and violence.
He added that Fubler was still on probation for a 2009 conviction for prowling.
“You had two years’ probation and you go and do the same thing,” Mr. Tokunbo said.
The maximum term of imprisonment for prowling is three years. Mr. Tokunbo sentenced Fubler to one year in prison, noting his guilty plea.
