Eagles soar to top of First Division
Ham Parish 2 Som Eagles 3
High-flying Somerset Eagles soared to the top of the First Division for the first time this season with this victory over Hamilton Parish at Lord's yesterday.
But Eagles almost blew a comfortable lead, having to brush off a late fightback by their opponents after holding a 3-0 advantage.
The west enders are now in first place with 18 points, three better than second placed Boulevard who didn't play yesterday.
Eagles wasted little time in taking the initiative, grabbing a 1-0 lead after just two minutes through Jalani Butterfield. They went ahead 2-0 after 50 minutes when Stephen Burrows netted and seemingly put the result out of reach when Lamaul Crofton got their third after 74 minutes.
But Parish refused to lie down, pulling a goal back through Alvin Baker after 85 minutes and clawing their way to within one when Shawn Dill netted from a goalmouth scramble after 88 minutes.
Parish had chance to equalise right at the end when Irving Burgess got through the defence but fired his shot high and wide when he should have scored.
St. David's 5 S.Rangers 1
St. David's maintained hold of third place with this comfortable triumph at Lord's. Spearheading their drive were O.J.Minors and Desmond Crockwell who struck two goals apiece. The other was netted by Dejuan Paynter.
Paget 4 Social Club 1
Paget scored their first victory of the season at White Hill Field against the division's cellar dwellers. The scores were tied 1-1 at the half. Dwayne Hurdle put Paget ahead after 27 minutes but Eric Dunkley levelled it for the losers eight minutes later.
However, things were different in the second half when Social Club lost their fighting spirit and allowed Paget to get completely on top. Further goals came from Kevin Tucker, Devon Steede (penalty) and Robert Lee who missed several other chances.
Ire Rangers 2 Prospect 0
Ireland Rangers kept hold of fifth place with this two-goal victory at Malabar. They led 1-0 at the half on a goal by former Somerset Trojan defender Anthony Burchall and then Wendell Anderson netted their second midway through the second half.
