Get ready to dance — the All White Party is back!
When party promoter Rowan Ramotar held his first Pure — All White Party back in 2009, he had no idea residents would react so positively.
“I didn’t expect that it would take off the way it did,” Mr Ramotar, better known as Wild Apache said.
“The first year we had it we didn’t have enough space to hold everyone at Whitehorse in St George’s, it was completely full. I was asked to move it because people couldn’t move and dance as much as they wanted.”
This year’s event will be held at Gombeys in St David’s — and organisers are hoping for their biggest turnout yet.
“Because it’s our fifth year anniversary, I’ve decided to keep it local,” Mr Ramotar said.
“For the last couple of years I have had international DJs come down for the event. Last year I had DJ Young Chow from Hot 97, the biggest urban, pop radio station in the New York and the Tri-State area.
“We also had DJ Spin City from 105FM in New York, so this year I decided to keep it local because I truly believe we have first-class DJs in Bermuda.” Other entertainers playing at this event will include DJ Sheep, Lenky Global, iMega and DJ iBreeze.
“These guys are near the top of their game and probably the top ten DJs in Bermuda, spinning the best in R&B, reggae, soca and top 40 music from the 90s to the present,” Mr Ramotar said.
The event is aiming to attract partygoers between the ages of 18 to 35 years old — and the music will be catered to that demographic.
But that’s not all the event has to offer.
Reality Rentals will have the place decked out in black lights so that people’s white outfits will be all aglow.
Organisers will also be handing out glow sticks for the first 600 people to give the space a unique party ambience.
Mr Ramotar anticipates this will be a party not to miss.
“I would encourage everyone to come out and come prepared to dance,” he said. “I must say this party has a reputation of when you leave your feet are hurting, but in a good way. When that happens it means people have had a great time and have danced all night.”
The event started very humbly five years ago at Whitehorse.
Unite Productions used to host a similar event, however, when they stopped he decided to keep the tradition going in Bermuda.
The event was also in honour of his birthday; it used to be called the Gemini White Party.
“That first year the response was tremendous,” he said. “We had to move it immediately from there the following year to Gombeys at Clearwater.
“And the following two years it was at Pier Six, but seeing that it’s June some people would rather have it outside under the stars as opposed to inside so I moved it back to Gombeys.”
Planning parties and events since 1992, Mr Ramotar said his goal was to offer people a great time in a safe, carefree environment.
Tickets, $20, are available at Kit N’ Caboodle, Jazzy Boutique, and the Cave in St George’s.
There is also a special rate of $15 each for those who buy five or more tickets.
People must be 21 years and older to attend.
