Swallows settled after a slow start and began to put together some good attacking play.

They went ahead in the first half when Jenny Burrell scored after some great play by Rebecca Pettingill.

Swallows picked up the pace in the second-half and were soon ahead 2-0 when Pettingill netted the ball after a great individual run into the circle.

Swifts had their chances and Cathie Hay, Melissa Durrant and Lisette Moniz always caused problems.

With this win Swallows are now joint leaders of the B league with Cardinals.

Men's League BCS Panthers 3 Wasps 1 The young Panthers recorded their first win of the season, the first of two games the teams had to play against each other.

Wasps took the lead when another youngster, Tyler Smith, put the ball away after some good approach work by Burt Rodney and Richard Adlam.

The Panthers drew level six minutes later with Jerome Overbee's deflection into goal off a cross by Andrew Elton.

Panthers then took the lead through another Overbee goal and Chris Chapman made sure of the victory when he scored from a short corner routine.

Wasps 5 BCS Panthers 2 The second game of the day between these two sides saw a more determined and fresher Wasps side take to the field.

Richard Adlam opened the scoring for them, netting a well taken shot from a short corner, and Simon Farrington made it 2-0 shortly after.

Panthers managed to pull a goal back in the first half through Gregory Rose.

Bert Rodney netted two for Wasps and Farrington scored his second of the day to take the score to 5-1.

Panthers were rewarded for their hard work when Andrew Elton scored.

Police 0 Chameleons 7 The Police side were on the back foot for the majority of the match as Chameleons played some great attacking hockey.

By half-time Chameleons were ahead 3-0, although Police did have one great chance at a goal which was cleared off the line by J. Redrobe.

The second-half was slightly less frantic, although this did not stop Chameleons finding the back of the net four more times to come away 7-0 winners. Scorers were Jonathan Dodd (three), Steve Moreton (two), Stuart MacKellar and Mark Pettingill.

SAILING SLG The blast of cold Saturday night failed to deter the `Committed 10' from taking to the waters of Hamilton harbour for the latest race in the Frostbite Series.

Malcolm Smith, while far from dominating, emerged on top of the fleet, recording four first-place finishes, three seconds and a third among his results in the 10 races for a total of 13 points.

Smith most adequately combated the fluky eight- to 10-knot breezes and correspondingly challenging courses set by class secretary Christian Luthi.

The surprise of the day was presented by Martin Vezina, who beat Brett Wright and Todd Olsen for second place, his 20 points six better than the latter pair.

One race day remains, with Smith looking odds on for the overall title.
