Sewell dance company to thrill ballet fans
The Bermuda Ballet Association presents James Sewell Ballet later this week at the City Hall Theatre.
James Sewell Ballet is the Minneapolis based dance company which thrilled local audiences at the Bermuda Festival two years ago.
The company will offer two mixed programmes of classical and modern dance.
James Sewell Ballet will take to the stage Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. There will be a Saturday matinee at 3 p.m. and children's tickets for that performance are only $12.
This will be the Association's main fund raiser to raise money for their scholarship programme.
Tickets are $25 and available from the Visitors Service Bureau. For information on tickets 295-1727.
*** The Bermuda Zoological Society are looking for helpers for next weekend's Zoom Around The Sound.
Volunteers are needed to help with registering and handing out goody bags and water to gasping walkers and runners.
The annual event will take place on Saturday, March 20 with warm-up beginning at 8 a.m.
The Society also needs all the help it can get for the annual Agricultural Show.
Two hour shifts are available, beginning at 8 a.m., for the Exhibition which will run April 22, 23 and 24. Anyone interested in helping out should contact the Society at 293-7074.
*** The Alliance Francaise invites all to Wednesday's French film evening at the Daylesford Theatre (BMDS).
The Academy Award winning film, Les Roseaux Sauvage, by Andres Techine will be shown at 8 p.m.
The film was inspired by Techine's memories of childhood and adolescence set in 1962 during the period of the Algerian War of Independence.
The 1994 movie won three Oscars.
*** Pre-registration for the Community Education and Development Programme Spring term will take place this week.
Anyone who registers this week will receive a $5 discount on any class.
Regular registration will commence next week and late registration will take place from March 29 to April 1.
Credit card customers can register by fax, mail or telephone.
All spring classes begin the week of Monday, April 12, 1999.
*** The King's-Edgehill School in Nova Scotia, Canada, invite all local alumni to attend this summer's `Reunion of the 50's'.
The reunion will take place on June 25, 26 and 27 in Windsor, Nova Scotia.
