BTC applies to expand services
Telecommunications Commission to expand its cellular telephone services. The company currently charges $25 a month plus 30 cents a minute during peak hours and 15 cents a minute from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
In addition to the basic service BTC now wants to offer users eight packages which range in price from $15 to $299.95 a month for access, and from 15 cents to 75 cents per minute of use depending on the service and the time of day.
The packages of features include call waiting, three way calling, call transfer, sleep mode, call forward, group ringing, and voicemail.
BTC is gearing up from competition in the cellular telephone sector from Bermuda Digital Communications Ltd., which aims on offering services in the first quarter of next year.
Bermuda Digital chairman and chief executive officer Kurt Eve said the new company has formed a joint venture with another company. The two companies have signed a confidentiality agreement until the deal is complete.
TWO NEW BUILDING PROPOSED AT ROSEMONT PLN TOU Two new buildings proposed at Rosemont , Rosemont Guest Apartments at Rosemont Avenue, Pembroke plans on expanding due to increased demand according to a planning application. The tourist lodge is owned by Cyril Cooper. He plans on increasing the size to 49 units from 37 units by demolishing an existing building. Two new buildings containing 20 new apartments in total will be constructed on the site if planning permission is received. Mr. Cooper was away from Bermuda and could not be contacted.
CONTINENTAL TO BRING OPERATIONS UNDER ONE ROOF FLY Continental to bring operations under one roof Continental Motors Ltd., which holds the Peugeot franchise for Bermuda, will bring all its automobile operations under one roof at the Joell's Building site at the corner of Brunswick and Elliot streets. General manager Jeff Stirling said the company was about to close a deal with the Joell family over the sale of the building. The company currently has a service garage on Hermitage Road in Devonshire, and a showroom on North Shore Rd. in Pembroke.
Mr. Stirling said the building would give the company more space and had a better location.
The company will put a service garage in the basement level of a new building.
The spare parts and showroom will be located on the mezzanine level and the floor above. The dilapidated buildings on the site will be demolished.

filed a writ against Mr. Sallin and Dianne C. Sallin.
MONETARY AUTHORITY RELEASES TRIANGULAR COINS GVT Monetary Authority releases triangular coins The Bermuda Monetary Authority has released the second in a three-year series of triangular coins. The $60 one-ounce gold coin will be sold for $750. The $30 half-ounce gold coin will be sold for $375. The $3 silver coin will be sold for $40, and the copper-nickel $1 coin will be sold for $10. The gold coins have a maximum mintage limit of 1,500 for each weigh, while the silver coin will be issued to a maximum of 6,500. The copper-nickel coin has unlimited mintage.
RENAISSANCERE DECLARES CAHS DIVIDEND BUC RenaissanceRe declares cash dividend Bermuda-based RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd. has declared a regular quarterly cash dividend of 25 cents per share on its common stock, payable on December 5 to shareholders of record on November 20.
