Three banned from driving
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo yesterday disqualified three men from driving vehicles for 12 months ? including two men who were drinking and driving.
Kevin Darrell, 20, of Horseshoe Road, Southampton admitted to driving while impaired on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish on July 28.
Darrell was driving at a high speed and failed to stop at a junction when he was stopped by Police, who observed he was slurring his speech and smelt of intoxicants.
He was taken to Hamilton Police Station to have his breath analysed and the lower reading was 153 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood.
Darrell was also driving an unlicensed motorbike and had no third party insurance at the time and received fines of $250 and $1000 respectively for those matters.
Stephen Ball, 58, of Skyline Drive, Smith's denied impaired driving but pleaded guilty to refusing to give a sample of breath for analysis on July 22.
The court heard Ball was weaving from side to side and crossed the middle line, while driving his car at 2.05 a.m. on Middle Road in Devonshire.
Police observed he smelt strongly of intoxicants and when asked he admitted to having two glasses of wine earlier at the Bridge Club.
Both Ball and Darrell were given $800 fines and disqualified from all vehicles for 12 months, but Darrell was given until the end of the month to pay.
Vandyke Bean, 22, of Southampton Road, Southampton, was caught speeding on two separate occasions: on June 22 he was speeding at 83 kph and on August 5 he was speeding at 110 kph.
Bean was given a $500 fine and disqualified for 12 months for the first offence and was given an additional $750 fine for the second offence ? which he was given until September to pay.
