Titanic proves unsinkable at box-office in Bermuda!

Yesterday was the last day of a six-week run at the Liberty Theatre for the three-and-a-half-hour romantic epic about the sinking of what was once the largest ship afloat.
Nelda Simons, manager of the theatre, said the movie had "done wonderfully''.
"The number of people who have watched it more than once is astounding,'' Ms Simons said without giving statistics. "One young woman saw it four times in a week and a half, and there are others.'' The blockbuster has moved to Somers Playhouse in St. George's where it will open today. Internationally the film is well on the way to surpassing the double release of Star Wars, in 1977 and 1997.
Locally, Titanic is shifting from Liberty so that other movies, including As Good as it Gets and Jackie Brown, can air.
"It is doing well for the cinema,'' Ms Simons said. "But Mr. Bean has the record for people in a week.'' "The Crying Game went for a longer period between Liberty and Neptune Theatres,'' she added. Ms Simons said Titanic was a financial success and had done as well as "Waiting to Exhale''.
