Wade calls for probe into Perot security row
alleged rough treatment of a top American photographer by Police and Ross Perot's security guards.
But he backed a ban on helicopters from flying low over the US presidential hopeful's Tucker's Town home.
"I support whatever the authorities deem appropriate to protect a potential candidate for the presidency,'' he said.
Professional cameraman Mr. Bob Gomel, 58, told The Royal Gazette earlier this week he was threatened and intimidated last Saturday while photographing Mr.
Perot's two properties off Winsor Beach.
The incident occurred, he claimed, shortly after he was forced by stormy conditions to beach a boat he had hired to photograph the homes from the sea.
Mr. Gomel, on assignment for a major American publication, also complained that expensive camera equipment and film were ruined when one security guard capsized his boat while apparently attempting to relaunch it.
Last night Mr. Wade said an investigation should be made into Mr. Gomel's complaint, and "appropriate action'' taken if it was upheld.
"The type of rough tactics complained of should not be acceptable,'' he added.
Mr. Frederick Wade.
