The stars come out today
begins today with the first of a series of advertisements in The Royal Gazette .
Fans are invited to make their selections from the players appearing on Page 45, with their votes determining who appears in the February 2 clash. Nominees for the East and West sides were compiled by First and Second Division coaches.
On paper, the West would appear to have a slight edge in the goalscoring department where they have proven scorers Darron Simons and Carlos Smith of Dandy Town, veteran Sammy Swan of Vasco and Southamton Rangers' Ascento Russell.
The East will counter with the likes of Ellington Weldon of Devonshire Colts and Cougars' strike pair of Philip Clarke and Clevie Campbell. In midfield, the East will choose from players such as Jahmah Samuels and Mark Ray of Devonshire Colts, Wali Salaam and Stephen Coddington of Devonshire Cougars, St. George's pair Marlon Outerbridge and Dwayne Richardson, Kevin Jennings and Nakia Smith of North Village.
Among the West midfielders are Otis Steede and Raynel Lightbourne of PHC, Kwame Tucker of Southampton Rangers, Shawn Smith and Corey Hill of Vasco.
Kentoine Jennings of Vasco, Pernell Brangman and Jason Raynor of Southampton Rangers, Lionel Furbert and Jamiko Marshall are among the West hopefuls on defence. The East's defence will come from the likes of Makonnen Hollis and Shannon Burgess of Devonshire Colts, Albert Caisey and Leroy Stevens of Boulevard, Neil Paynter and Dean Bailey of St. George's.
Voters will select two from a short list of three East goalkeepers -- Troy Hall, Dwayne Adams and Andre Hendrickson -- but must choose from six 'keepers nominated for the West.
The match is sponsored by Coca Cola, Colonial Insurance, The Shell Company and The Royal Gazette .
