Bermudian Wyman Lindsay's dedication to the local hospitality industry has paid off with his appointment this week as manager of The Reef's successful

Mr. Lindsay, 34, and a graduate of the Bermuda Hotel College, worked previously in the dining room at Stonington Hotel for 14 years, as a waiter then captain.

He says his enjoyment of the tourism industry has kept him involved in it for so long.

As restaurant manager at Coconuts, Mr. Lindsay says he wants to push the beach dining aspect.

"We are the only restaurant in Bermuda that has tables directly on the beach -- in the sand," he said.

Coconuts is open every night except Sunday from 7 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. with lunch daily from 12.30 p.m. to 3 p.m. It serves on the beach through November.

*** CD&P EXPANDS TO BVI LEG CD&P expands in BVI Local law firm Conyers Dill & Pearman's office in the British Virgin Islands has expanded with the addition of two more attorneys and the ability to accept instructions relating to BVI matters in Hong Kong as well as London.

Lawyer Robert Briant transferred to the BVI office having spent the past five years in CD&P's corporate department in Bermuda.

And Benedicta Samuels took up her post in the BVIs after a three-month familiarisation period in Bermuda. In addition to expanding the Tortola office, attorneys from CD&P's London and Hong Kong offices have been admitted to practise BVI law.

As a result clients can now contact Lilian Woo in Hong Kong and Martin Lane in London. CD&P has had a presence in the BVIs since 1988 when the firm established Codan Trust Company (BVI) Ltd. and its sister companies Codan Managements (BVI) and Codan Services (BVI). These companies are the vehicles through which international companies are incorporated and managed in the BVIs.

*** GEARING UP FOR BUSINESS BUC Gearing up for business Entrepreneur Anthony Peets is reviving his popular car accessories shop that was located on Woodlands Road from 1990-1997. He closed the business when he had to leave the premises due to major renovations by the owner.

Mr. Peets says it took him a while to find a suitable new location, but he finally found one on Union Street across the road from Leslie Wilson's Cycle Shop. His new company US Direct will continue to retail the "hottest and latest'' car accessories though an agreement with Opak Motors in the America, including such items as rims and tires and convertible Vitara tops for around $195, however, there will be one major difference this time. Alongside the car accessories will be beauty and barber shop wholesale supplies.

Mr. Peets claims he will be bringing in the tools of the beauty salon and hairdressing trade at up to 50 per cent savings, including many new high-end items. He is co-ordinating importation of the equipment through his sister, who is a US-based hair stylist.

"Basically we are going to be taking care of everybody from head to toe!,'' he said.

*** BRUCE REICH APPOINTED APP Bruce Reich appointed Bermuda-based specialty reinsurance group Capital Re has appointed Bruce Reich as executive vice president and chief underwriting officer of KRE Reinsurance and affiliates. He reports directly to Laurence C.D. Donnelly, KRE's president. Mr. Reich previously worked for Swiss Re.
