Village win puts Town out of Dudley Eve
place in the Dudley Eve tournament at the expense of Dandy Town yesterday.
They join Vasco, Boulevard and Devonshire Colts in the lucrative Christmas and New Year competition, for which the top four clubs in the First Division at the half-way point qualify.
Town, who were in third place going into yesterday's matches, were pushed out of the reckoning when their goalless draw against Boulevard at St.David's relegated them to fifth place in the table with 16 points.
Boulevard's point put them level on 17 points with Village and Devonshire Colts, who won at Hotels.
Vasco had already qualified as league leaders with 19 points, despite the postponement of their game on Friday with bottom-placed Devonshire Cougars.
Southampton Rangers, who had entertained fantasies of a late entry to the competition following four wins on the trot, were held 1-1 by PHC, although victory in that match would still have left them two points short.
Colts struggle From Page 29 Dennis Robinson was booked for a bad tackle on Saltus in the closing minute and Colts reacted by scoring a second goal in the 90th minute to sink Hotels. A long ball upfield by goalkeeper Troy Hall sent Mark Ray through and with two defenders challenging, he tucked a low shot past Dupres from near the edge of the box.
