Mr. Minks, who has worked at the Hamilton branch for two months, says part of the fun is meeting new and exciting people.

But for Four Star Pizza drivers who like to try to deliver a pizza within 30 minutes, there can be many pitfalls along the way.

The worst problems are faulty addresses or poor directions.

"It can be frustrating when you go to look for a house number and it's not there. And some people will tell you to look for an orange house when they mean a pink one,'' he says.

Dogs can also be a nuisance for pizzas deliverers.

"Some people have dogs and they know that you're coming but when you arrive you see this big dog coming at you. It can be scary at times,'' he says.

Mr. Ming says most of the Hamilton orders come from businesses and exempt companies. But quite often at lunchtime there will be calls from hungry school children.

"I really like delivering to schools,'' he says. "The kids are delighted to see us. They all come and crowd around.'' He thinks the appeal for kids derives partly from Four Star's "American'' image. He says the smart red, white and blue uniform is particularly eye catching.

"Sometimes I can see a look in a person's face when they see me in my uniform on the street and I know that when I get back they will have ordered a pizza,'' he says. Pizzas can be delivered almost anywhere within the parishes covered by the three Four Star Pizza branches.

"We get a lot of orders from guest houses and hotels such as the Hamilton Princess and Elbow Beach. We also get quite a lot of calls from people at bars. If they feel hungry and don't want to move, they just call us.'' Delivery is advertised as free and giving a tip to the driver is at the discretion of the customer.

"Of course,'' says Mr. Minks, "it's always nice when they do. No matter how I'm feeling, it's my duty to deliver the pizza promptly and politely.'' Despite incidents a couple of years ago where Four Star Pizza employees were robbed while delivering orders, Mr. Minks says the idea does not worry him.

According to Four Star owner, Mr. Maurico Thomas, "a system of checks and balances'' are in place to ensure drivers have no more than $20 with them at any time.

"When it happened the first time they just took the pizzas,'' says Mr.

Thomas. "It could almost have been a compliment.'' PIZZA TO GO -- Mr. Kenneth Minks of Four Star Pizza's Hamilton branch delivers pizzas in the "hot box.'' Favourite customers at the Hamilton branch included former Governor Sir Desmond Langley.
