Two fined for rowdy behaviour

incidents in Hamilton and St. George's, including one who reportedly "cussed at elderly tourists''.

Fifty-nine-year-old Alvin (Alabama) Anderson, of Old Maid's Lane, St.

George's, broke down in Magistrates' Court yesterday after being fined for the offence by Senior Magistrate Will Francis.

He was arrested outside Trimingham's in the old town last Friday evening after he was seen by Police acting in an intoxicated manner and "cussing at elderly tourists''.

Admitting to having drunk quite a bit, Anderson tearfully apologised for his behaviour.

He was fined $250 and released from Police custody.

Also appearing was Dion Levaughn Burgess, 35, of no fixed abode, who was arrested on the same night after he was seen "staggering about and cussing passers-by'' on Queen Street in Hamilton.

Burgess, who was just released from prison on Friday after serving time for an unrelated offence, pleaded guilty to the charge and explained that he had just been in a fight with his girlfriend.

"I was vexed,'' he said, "but I hadn't been drinking.'' Instead of sending him straight back to prison, Mr. Francis conditionally discharged Burgess for six months.

But he added: "If you come back before me again, I will have to take this matter into account when dealing with it.''
