GOLF GLF Junior golf action in the Captain's Choice Tournament at Ocean View last week saw the team of Aaron James, Lindsey Sims, Ted Terceira and Andrew Cottingham fire a 65 to take top honours, edging out the team of Jeremy Drover, Seamus Durkin, Scott and Steven Roy on retrogression.

One shot back was the team of BJ Payne, Kwame Caisey, Doug Markey and Daniel Dickinson.

In novice action at Horizons, Jermaine Simons led the way with a 34 over nine holes. Thomas Edwards was one shot back on 35, beating Justin Simons on retrogression.

MOTOCROSS SCR The Pepsi Nationals reached the halfway stage at Coney Island on Sunday with two riders picking up their first wins of the season.

Dwyre Blyden took first place in the second moto to deny Brandon DeSilva a hat-trick, though the the latter still finished first for the day. Blyden had his win sandwiched between two seconds.

DeSilva was chasing his 26th race win but was slowed by a fall and a loose chain.

Carlton Burgess also had cause to celebrate as he picked up his first overall win when he raced to three firsts in the 125 C class. The 45 points moved Burgess to second overall, ahead of Jamel Hassell.

Mark Hatherley still has a comfortable lead in the class following his three seconds.

Pierre Davis was unchallenged in the Pee Wee 80 class while Aaron Cannonier kept his lead in the 60cc class with another hat-trick. Jakai Brimmer fought off Garry Cann for second overall with two seconds and a third.

Steven Panchaud kept the lead atop the 80cc class despite a fourth place finish. The class was dominated by Howard Paynter, who had a hat-trick.

Robbie Smith won the first 125 B race with Aaron Pace second and Kemo Simons third. Smith won the third moto but was fifth in the second race which cost him top place for the day.

Top spot went to Pace with two seconds and a first.
