Police are refusing to provide details about a crash involving a Police car and a motorcyclist on Friday night.

The motorcyclist — who appeared conscious but in pain — was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital following the accident at Dundonald Street's junction with Cedar Avenue shortly after 12.30 a.m. Both vehicles were damaged in the incident, which threw the rider several yards and knocked him out of his shoes.

Police did not mention the crash in their blotter report over the weekend, and did not respond to any questions about it.

Gombey's burglarised

Burglars stole a Rasta hat and more than 24 bottles of alcohol from Gombey's Restaurant and Bar on Wednesday.

The thieves got away with eight bottles of Hennessy, six bottles of Chivas, six bottles of Grey Goose vodka, four bottles of black rum, plus two bags of fish, two turntables, and a red, green and gold Rasta hat with dreadlocks.

A Bermuda Police Service spokesman said the break-in at the Clearwater Beach bar took place overnight.

He said: "When the complainant returned at 9.45 a.m., he noticed that someone had gained entry into the storage room and removed numerous bottles of liquor, coins, two turntables and fish from inside a deep freezer. Inquiries into this incident are underway."

Officers are also investigating a break-in at a house in Camp Hill, Southampton, on Thursday. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen from the property between 6.45 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Berkeley sends home 24 for uniform violations

Berkeley students have been warned about their school's dress code after 24 of them were sent home for wearing the wrong clothes.

Uniform checks have been taking place since the beginning of term, with those inappropriately dressed on Friday told to go home and get changed.

The Board of Governors issued a statement to stress the importance of discipline. "The school's code of conduct was disseminated to students and parents prior to the start of the school year to ensure that everyone was aware of what was expected of them," said chairman Calvin White.

"The Berkeley Institute is committed to student success and is encouraging parents to partner with the school's administration to guarantee that success."
