Cann asked Police to fight him
A witness in the Cooper twins murder trial was fined $1,000 yesterday for swearing at Police on September 24.
Gladwyn Cann said "f**k you, you stupid f***ing a*****s" when approached by officers on Front Street near the Emporium Building in the early hours of Saturday, September 24.
Senior Crown counsel Paula Tyndale told Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner Cann was flailing his arms and said: "F**k you. F***ing fight me."
Officers approached the defendant, noticed he appeared drunk and warned him about his behaviour.
Ms Tyndale said Cann then raised his right hand, pointed in the direction of officers and cursed them.
The 24-year-old was then arrested and replied: "Let me the f**k go, you c***s." He apologised when charged, the court heard.
Cann, of Kitty's Drive, Hamilton Parish, said that the bouncer at a nightclub "picked me up and slammed me on my back" and his outburst was directed at the bouncer ? not Police.
Mr. Warner, referring to Cann's previous convictions, which included four cases of obstructing Police, told the defendant he was a "public nuisance", adding: "You are heading for jail".
Cann testified for the Prosecution witness in the Cooper twins murder trial earlier this year.
Kenneth Burgess and Dennis Robinson were imprisoned in February for murdering Jahmil and Jahmal Cooper.
