Men admit impaired driving charges
A man caught driving with a half-empty Corona beer bottle between his legs, appeared in Magistrates' Court on drink driving charges.
Jahmeiko Damen Leshore, 25, admitted to driving while impaired on October 3, on North Shore Road, in Pembroke.
The charge carries an automatic $1,000 fine, ten demerit points and 12 month driving ban.
The court heard that Leshore, of Devon Spring Road, in Devonshire, was driving when Police stationed at the junction with Dock Hill heard him playing excessively loud music, and driving without a seat belt.
Police caught up and found that he had a half-empty beer bottle in his lap, bloodshot eyes and other signs of intoxication.
In addition to the drunk driving offence, Leshore was also driving an unlicensed motor car, with no third party insurance. He was fined $750 and $1,000 for the offences respectively, as well as three demerit points.
Also in Magistrates' Court was Mark Reese Bartley, 35, of Rockaway Road, in Southampton, who admitted to drink driving on October 30.
The court heard that Bartley was driving a red Subaru with no headlights when Police, who were on patrol in Dockyard, pulled him over at Pender Road, near Westgate Correctional Facilities, and questioned him about the offence.
They noticed he appeared to be drunk, and asked him if he had been drinking that night. Bartley replied: "Yes, I had a couple of drinks, I've been drinking since 2 o'clock".
A breathalyser test showed that he had 185 milligrams per 100 millilitres of blood in his system. The legal limit is 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood.
He was handed the automatic fine, ten demerit points and a driving ban by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner.
