Churches to hold mass service

Churches from across denominational lines will be joining together on Sunday, October 15 at the National Stadium for the United By Faith Amalgamated Service of Bermuda Churches.

Flyers for the event have already been sent to pastors Island -wide, with the goal of creating, according to the flyer, ?A multi-denominational Faith-based approach to declare the solidarity of the Kingdom of God for the betterment of Bermuda as a whole.?

Churches that have already agreed to joining the service ? which will be held at 10.30 a.m. ? include the AME Churches of Bermuda, the Brethren Churches of Bermuda, First Churches of God, New Testament Churches of God, the Salvation Army, as well as many other independent churches, including Cobb?s Hill Methodist, Cornerstone Bible Fellowship, New Creation Worship Centre and Wellington Baptist, among others. The list is expanding daily.

The churches which are involved will cancel their regular services in lieu of the ecumenical service at the stadium.

Central to the service will be talks on community problems, including gangs and violence, the role of the church in today?s society, and issues of national importance, including discussion on the Human Rights Amendment.

?United By Faith is a God-given, non-partisan vehicle, designed to amalgamate all believers in God, to infiltrate and to impact all strata of our society with the Kingdom of God by: Unifying through corporate prayer and worship; Raising and maintaining the standards of God in the land; and Surrounding the leadership of this nation with spiritual support, covering and guidance on a continual basis,? explains the flyer.

Their vision is: ?To see the corporate Church in these Islands become ?ONE? as far as possible, through mutual respect and love one for another, thus creating the atmosphere for God to heal our land.?
