M3 system gives IT heads remote control of networks

Remote control software: M3 Wireless CEO Lloyd Fray.

IT managers will be able to control their company's systems at the touch of a smart phone button from outside the office thanks to a new product launched by M3 Wireless.

The Rove Mobile Admin Version 4.1, which is exclusive to M3 Wireless, will allow BlackBerry, other phone and computer users to remotely access their firm's network from anywhere there is a connection.

It can be used for networks, back office products and Microsoft Windows Exchange and even enables the server to be restarted all at your fingertips via a hand-held device or computer.

Meanwhile M3 Wireless is set to rollout its 3G network and set of products to complement the Rove software in the next six to eight weeks.

The deal was struck between M3 Wireless and Rove Mobile at the Wireless Enterprise Symposium held in Orlando, Florida in May.

Lloyd Fray, CEO of M3 Wireless, said savings could be made on administration costs, while it also offers an all-in-one package for the various applications.

"It is an ongoing strategy for us in terms of simplifying our products and to have complete visibility and access at the customers' fingertips," he said.

"We actually have quite a few trials in place, but the product is essentially available now.

"We listen to our customers and they have come back with this information and said they want something that is going to make them do their jobs better and be more efficient."

Karen Pyo, vice-president or marketing and product development at M3 Wireless, said the real beauty of the product was the ability to improve and make the running of your system more efficient.

"The idea is you if have got a BlackBerry how can we make it work better for you?" she said.

"It means less down time and you can be anywhere to do it so long as you have a connection and it can be done in an instant."

Trevor Grieb, business development manager at M3 Wireless, said the company made the move to ally itself with a number of top companies, including Rove Mobile, whose product has already been taken up by several Fortune 500 businesses, including major banks, and a total of more than 7,000 firms around the world.

"There has been a great response from our customers that are trying the products out at the moment," he said.

"We have got a dozen companies that are trialling it right now including insurance and finance companies and even Government."

The Rove Mobile product, which costs $595 for a standard package with an annual maintenance fee of 18 percent, is available on a free 14-day trial, with back-up support from Rove.
