Man disrupts Senate session with obscenity-filled tirade

Police arrested a man in the Senate yesterday after he became abusive and hurled obscenities at Attorney General Kim Wilson.

Just before 11 a.m. Burnell Cross walked into the Senate Chambers and sat in the public gallery. When Sen. Walton Brown walked into the room, Mr. Cross yelled out:"I need to speak to you."Sen. Brown put his hand up and told Mr. Cross he would speak to him when the session finished

.Moments later when Sen. Wilson walked in, the man yelled out:"That b***h stole money from my mama".

The 66-year-old continued to yell at Sen. Wilson and said she was his mother's lawyer and stole more than $100,000 from her claiming the money hadn't been returned. Mr. Cross was asked to stop yelling by Senate President Carol-Ann Basset and by other senators but refused.

Continuing the tirade, Mr. Cross said: "What are you folks going to do about this b***h here. I am telling you people, you put your hands on me ."

At that point, Senate President Carol-Ann Basset told Mr. Cross to leave the senate but he refused and complained that he had nowhere to speak his mind.

He continued: "You told me to f**k off Col. Burch so I'm telling you to f**k off. I am letting you know. There's going to be a lot of action."

Mr. Cross, of Hamilton Parish, was then ushered out of the senate by Sen. Marc Bean, the clerk of the senate and the Police officer on duty. bodyindent:

As soon as he was dragged out of the room, CIDofficers ran up the steps of the Cabinet to arrest him.

Mr. Cross continued yelling at Sen. Bean and the Police officers after his arrest. *t(0,0," ")Police Spokesman Dwayne Caines confirmed the arrest and said: "Police responded to reports of a disturbance that took place at the Cabinet Grounds a few minutes before 11 a.m. yesterday.

"Upon arrival they came in contact with a Hamilton Parish man who was using profanity and threatening words. He was arrested and taken into Police custody."
