Students to intern at Logic

Five students from Bermuda's public school system will intern at Logic Communications as part of the Bermuda Technology Education Collaboration (B.TEC) Internship programme.

Logic's B.TEC students will intern for one afternoon each week, starting in January in departments aligned with the student's interest or skill strength.

Logic has placed Berkeley Institute students Leslie Wolfe, Alje Talbot, Christopher Trott and Katherine Steede, as well as CedarBridge Academy student Christina Outerbridge in specialised departments including: Professional Services, Internal IT (Information Technology), Customer Support and Marketing.

"Logic is an ideal participant in B.TEC which focuses on integrating real world technology into the classroom," Wayne Scott, Logic's Chief Technology Officer said.

"As both a Bermudian company and a leader in the local IT market, we feel it is especially important to engage Bermuda's young people in technology fields.

By encouraging young Bermudians to explore their interests in technology, we hope to foster rewarding careers and opportunities."

Logic is one of more than 45 participating B.TEC business partners and has been a B.TEC supporter through the Internship program since the organisation's inception two years ago. Logic also participates in B.TEC through co-teaching.

B.TEC aims to open the gateway to a world of information and communications for Bermuda's public school student, their teachers, parents and the community.

The project is made possible through joint funding by the XL Foundation, the Government and the B.TEC Corporate Partners.

The curriculum is developed in collaboration with Stanford University and the University of Virginia.
