manager Bill Pitt, have wrapped up the 1995 Amstel League `A' Division title.

The Devonshire club secured the championship in the final league match at Mid Ocean on Saturday, when they tied the host team on strokes, therefore maintaining their four point advantage at the top.

Purcell completed the league with the best score average -- 2.75 over par -- followed by Port Royal's Leroy Burch (4.5) and Pitt (4.75).

Pitt, in fact, fired Saturday's low score of one-over-par on the Tucker's Town course, four better than Mid Ocean's Barry Brewer, who was next best.

Third place overall in the A Division went to the youngsters representing Bermuda Junior Golf Association, whose fortunes seemingly fluctuated depending on which players were home from their college studies in the US.

Finishing bottom of the seven-team league were Belmont's second string who will now be relegated to the B Division.

Their place goes to B division champions, Bermuda Golf Association Men, who won the title by four points over Ocean View II, although Saturday's final match at Belmont saw Port Royal III take top honours to place third overall.

Former Bermuda Amateur champion Hav Trott, playing for the BGA, returned the best average in the B Division -- 3.33 over par -- followed by Winston (Coe) Trott -- four over par.

BGA Ladies player Judithanne Outerbridge had the third best average of 6.33 but couldn't prevent her team from finishing on the bottom of the pile, tied with Ocean View III.

The league's prize presentation will take place this Saturday at Port Royal at the conclusion of the Amstel tournament.

Local junior golfer Michael Sims fired a superb one-under-par 70 in the final round of the 46th annual Future Masters Tournament, played in Dothan, Alabama over the weekend.

In a starting field of 215, Sims made the cut with a first round of 75, before finishing with scores of 80 and 70 to place 17th in the 15-16 age division. He finished the tournament 37th overall.

Sims yesterday joined fellow Bermudians Robbie Spurling, Craig Brown and David James in San Diego, California, where all four compete this week in the 15-17 age division of the Junior Worlds.
