Sunday.
In a day of close and exciting racing, the youngsters generally upstaged the sport's veterans.
Sixteen year-old Nick DeCosta was the top driver with five wins, two each with Crunch Time and Jennifer Time and another in the free-for-all with Brittany Gold in 1:06/3. That tied for the fastest time of the day, matched by Grand Shady in the second heat of the free-for-all.
Francis DeSilva's two ponies experienced mixed fortunes. The two-year-old filly, Runts Rocket, placed third in her first heat but then won her second race in a fast 1:11/3 while DeSilva's other pony, How Quick Time Flies, got away from him during the warm-up and made several turns around the track at high speed before being brought under control.
He eventually finished second to Custom Eyes'd in a two-pony race.
Closest race of the afternoon was heat 11 with Championne County, driven by David Lopes, and Happy Hoe Jr., driven by Randy Wilkinson, both finishing in 1:14 with County just a nose in front. Grand Willy was a close third in 1:14/2.
Next race day is on the public holiday, Tuesday, November 11, starting at 1.00 p.m.
