Some modest proposals

Dear Sir,

With all the controversy about Ms Smith's ability to lead the country and if she should resign her post, please allow me to contribute to the fray. After reading the blaring headlines, daily in your newspaper, and listening to the long diatribes of dissatisfaction, disappointments and down right hostility expressed, over the talk show airwaves about Ms Smith's, leadership, I would like to put forward some choices for the public to consider.

Mr. Arthur Hodgson ,Premier/Immigration Minister, that way he could not only head the government, but also register, photograph and finger print every foreigner on the Island, place their picture in the post office, under a sign that reads, Beware of potential job stealers. Instead of colour arm bands for identification, how about country of birth stamped on their forehead?

For Minister of Education/talk show enthusiast, R. Commissiong after all, he knows everything, from the history of the world, to the eating habits of the Premier, plus he gives us , the brain dead public his suggested reading list every week, and of course the list always includes something he's written, we're so lucky.

For Minister of Housing, it has to be Rodney Smith, after all he can show us how to buy a house with no money down, hey, with his formula you may not even need a job. My pick for Ministry of Race and Cultural affairs, is Dr. Eva Hodgson, after all she is the all time specialist in guilt tripping white people for slavery, and making excuses for those black people who have had a difficult life. I believe the majority of black people don't need or want an apologist, they just want an even playing field. Dr. Hodgson "get over it".

I propose a new ministry among this slate of new leadership and that would be D. Santucci, the Minister of Morals and Ethics. He could set up CCTV, out side of everybody's windows to catch fornicators, adulterous , homosexuals, and anyone else who breaks the ten commandments, he could go around with his cat o nine tails and make sure all children were in school, that women, cooked dinner for their husbands, and wore their dresses at a respectable length, I recall of hearing about another government like that, "Taliban".

Wake up Bermuda, Premier Smith may not be a saint but some of the alternatives are down right frightening. As for the opposition forget it, Those people can't even come up with an original idea. They didn't even think the hard workers at the airport should be recognised.

People who are complaining about the Premier, get a life, the woman is doing her job, the economy is booming, anyone who wants a job can get one, no one is trying to leave the country, in fact people are trying to get in, God has blessed us with so much, no every thing is not perfect , but it's not all bad either, We could be in some war torn place like Israel or Pakistan. Let's just be thankful and try and do better.
