Keen tussle among seniors
The race for this year's seniors' golf titles is a keen tussle heading into the final round of competition at Riddell's Bay Golf Club today, writes Gayle Alleyne.
In the men's segment of the 2002 Bermuda Seniors Championships, Eldon Raynor leads more than 50 competitors after two rounds with an overall score of 150. He is followed by Michael Tavares on 152; Millard Beach, 153; Roger Harvey, 155, and Howard DeSilva and Noel Van Putten, both on 158.
On the other end of things, Donald Johnson and Gordon Bogg, who have endured a miserable time on the course so far, will be hoping for much better performances on the final 18 holes to bring some respectability to their scores. They have totals of 209 and 206 respectively after 36 holes.
Among the ladies, Brenda McClean shot an 86 to be the front-runner going into the second and final round. However, Caroline Hammond and Kathy Lloyd Hines are close on her heels, with rounds of 87 and 88 respectively. Eleven women are vying for the championship.
