Trio charged in RAA shooting, fight
Three men appeared in Magistrates' Court yesterday on charges related to the Easter Sunday shooting at the Royal Artillery Association (RAA) club.
Dwayne Signor, 29, Jason Barnett, 17, and Khyri Smith-Williams, 19, are alleged to have been involved in the altercation on Grenadier Lane in St. George's. As a result of the incident, 18-year-old Shawn Williams was sent to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds to his upper body.
Smith-Williams, of Sandys, was yesterday charged with possessing a prohibited weapon in the form of a firearm at the late night reggae party. He faces a second charge of going armed to a public place with the intention of causing terror.
Signor, of St. George's, was accused of attempting to cause the death of Mr. Williams and of shooting Mr. Williams with a loaded gun.
He was also charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition in the form of a nine millimetre shell casing. Barnett, also of St. George's, is accused of taking part in the altercation.
None of the men was asked to submit a plea, as the offences are indictable. Smith-Williams and Signor were both remanded in custody until their next court appearance on April 26. Barnett was granted $2,000 bail.
• A Police spokesperson said Mr. Williams was released from hospital yesterday.
