TEACHERS BUSTED BY POLICE RUG Teachers busted by Police Police 32 Teachers 12 Police caused a major upset when they routed the Island's top side Teachers in the Nicol Shield final at Nationals at the weekend.
The match turned ironically on an injury to a Police player who suffered serious ankle problems in the second half.
Proceedings were held up while the ambulance arrived and the wait appeared to take the fight out of the Teachers' players who surrendered the match to the more determined Police.
It was always a keenly contested, hard fought game and Teachers, unbeaten in the league, were the red-hot favourites to lift the trophy.
But Police came out well-committed and took the game to their rivals, putting them on the back foot and keeping up the pressure throughout.
The delay for treatment of the injured Police player appeared to affect Teachers' game plan as they seemed to cool off when the match restarted.
Police, on the other hand, continued to exert pressure and scored almost immediately after the kick-off.
They kept the pressure on and dominated the last 15 minutes of the game, scoring two more tries towards the end.
The Robin Hood Trophy, fought out between the Island's Second XV sides, saw a landslide victory for Teachers over Police.
