Thief strikes at Bulls Head car park

A white 'Puma' bag and a pair of iPods were taken from an unattended vehicle at Bulls Head car park Thursday.

The car was left at the parking lot between 8.30 a.m. and 3 p.m., during which time an unknown culprit gained entry, stealing the bag containing an iPod Nano, and iPod Shuffle, jewellery and personal items.

A driver returned to their car Wednesday afternoon, only to discover a black leather handbag had been removed.

The complainant said that the car had been left unattended on Victoria Street between 3 p.m. and 3.15 p.m., during which time the handbag, containing cash and personal items, was removed.

Motorcyclist, auxiliary cyclist injured in crash

A collision between an auxiliary cycle and a motorcycle early Sunday morning resulted in a trip in an ambulance for both individuals.

At around 1.15 a.m. yesterday police responded to the scene of the accident where it appears the rider of the auxiliary cycle, a 16-year-old Pembroke woman attempted to turn onto Bermudiana Road from Front Street. The motorcyclist, a 32-year-old Paget man, was travelling east on Front Street, and the two collided.

Both riders suffered head injuries, and were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

Woman fined, disqualified for impaired driving

A 47-year-old St George's woman has been taken off the road for a year after pleading guilty to drunk driving.

Terri Crockwell was seen in the early hours of Sunday, May 31, driving her car on Mullet Bay Road in St George's.

The vehicle drifted from the eastbound lane into the path of a Police car.

She was stopped by Police at about 12.45 a.m., and appeared unsteady on her feet and had glazed eyes.

According to Crown counsel Carrington Mahoney, Crockwell admitted to having consumed three beers and two shots, saying: "I went out and had a few beers."

She added that it had been her 27th anniversary celebration.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner said that he was unable to grant her any leniency. "I have no discretion with regards to penalties in this offence," he explained.

Crockwell was fined $1000 and disqualified from all vehicles for 12 months.

Cash and personal items stolen in burglaries

A burglar got away with cash and personal items from a house in Sandys on Thursday.

The break-in took place at a house in Overplus Lane between 10.30 p.m. on Wednesday and 2.30 a.m. on Thursday.

A Bermuda Police Service spokesman said: "The culprit stole a quantity of cash and personal items. Inquiries into this incident are underway."

A house in Smith's was broken into on Wednesday afternoon. The burglar struck a property in Church Dale between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., stealing cash and personal items. Said a Police spokesman: "Inquiries into this incident are underway."

Motorcyclist injured

A 57-year-old St. George's man was injured after crashing his auxiliary cycle into a car.

The injured rider was travelling east on South Road in Devonshire before 5 p.m. Tuesday, when the car in front of him stopped near the junction with Brimstone Hill.

The rider was unable to stop in time, and collided with the car.

The driver of the car, a 43-year-old Paget woman, was unharmed.

Cash stolen from Southampton, Sandys homes

Personal items and cash were reported stolen from two West End homes.

According to Police, a Jennings Bay Road, Southampton residence was broken into between 10.15 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. Tuesday while it was unoccupied.

In a separate incident, a culprit entered a Middle Road, Sandys home between 8.45 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tuesday, stealing a men's watch and a quantity of cash.
