Bermuda has been given a boost by New England's biggest newspaper as a winter tourism destination that is less expensive than the Caribbean and attractive to visitors who are over 50.
The plug came in the Boston Globe, which said the Island was "usually relatively uncrowded", "senior friendly" and more affordable in winter with hotels and resorts offering seasonal discounts and packages. And it also revealed special promotional packages, including air ticket credits, were being offered.
The article described Bermuda as having the greatest concentration of golf courses per square mile in the world.
"All of them, including some of the oldest in the hemisphere, have water views and are playable year round. Golf vacation packages are particularly popular."
The article promotes some off-season golf and spa promotional packages called "Compliments of Bermuda" which includes a $300 air credit for one of two people travelling together.
Hotels offered in the package include Cambridge Beaches, Elbow Beach and the Fairmont Hamilton Princess and are three-night, midweek packages, which must be booked by February 28 and are good for travel through April 16.
