Eagles snatch point from leaders
Somerset Eagles held Hotels to only their second draw of the season but while that point cut Hotels' lead at the top, it wasn't enough to keep Eagles in second place.
At one time it looked as though Hotels would suffer their first defeat of the season as Eagles took the lead in the 19th minute when a cross from the left by Oscar Riley was parried by goalkeeper Stefan Dupres and Stephen Burrows planted the rebound home from 10 yards.
That lead stood until the half, but within five minutes of the restart the game was turned around by two Hotels goals. Joey Weeks levelled in the 54th minute when, from a Chris Sabir corner, keeper Ricky Tucker dropped the ball as he fell outside the penalty box and Weeks shot into an empty net.
Striker Ricky Hill scored a spectacular goal in the 59th minute when from a free kick on the right the Eagles defence failed to clear and Hill fired a brilliant shot into the top corner. Eagles equalised 10 minutes from the end through a Shawn Simmons header after the ball came back off the crossbar.
The ball again hit the Hotels crossbar in the closing minutes from a goal scramble as Eagles were denied a late winner.
Eagles dropped from second to fourth with Wolves moving behind Hotels on Friday night with a 5-1 win over BAA.
Somserset Trojans 2 Social Club 0 The Trojans were forced to work hard for maximum points against a spirited Social Club team at Somerset to move into third place. The home side led 1-0 on a goal by Lamaul Crofton and then increased their lead in the second half when Musceo Hunt added their second.
Prospect 4 Hamilton Parish 2 Bottom team Prospect fought back bravely to turn an early 2-0 deficit into a two-goal victory at Police Field -- their first win in the league this season.
The home side were stunned by two early goals by Parish, but they stormed back to grab a 3-2 edge by the half and then added a fourth goal in the second half.
Scoring for Prospect were Dwayne Leverock (2) and Lawrence Holder (2).
