Kentucky Fried Chicken Bermuda and its operating subsidiary KFC Operations Limited were accused of taking “the low road” in the ongoing dispute with the Bermuda Industrial Union.BIU head Chris Furbert said unionised workers at KFCB were in some cases not getting paid for all the hours they had worked, and were having overtime benefits withdrawn without their agreement.“They are bullying staff in what the BIU believes is a direct attempt to oust the remaining union members from its ranks with unsavoury tactics,” Mr Furbert said.The BIU met with its members at KFC this morning, Mr Furbert added, in response to their complaints.Staff in the KFCO subsidiary company are being treated “completely differently” than their counterparts, he said — although the BIU chief conceded he didn’t have definitive proof that KFCO staff are getting overtime pay.“KFCO are getting as much as 55 hours a week, while KFCB staff sometimes can’t even get their 40 hours a week,” Mr Furbert said.He said the company was using “back door tactics” to try and “encourage them to join KFCO”.The Royal Gazette tried to contact KFC Bermuda for a response, but had not received a reply by press time.
