In a joint initiative with CedarBridge Academy, TOPS Ltd. and Mailboxes Unlimited, KBB will launch the new pilot project at a ceremony to be held on Monday, January 13 at the school.

Invited attendees include Premier Jennifer Smith, Works & Engineering Minister Alex Scott, and Education Minister Milton Scott.

At the school every room will have a "blue box'' to collect their waste paper, the paper will then be picked up and taken to a designated area were it will be sorted.

The paper with one clean side will be cut and filled into an index cardholder to be used as note pads, the rest will be shredded and picked up by Mailboxes Unlimited and stored at its warehouse to be used as packing material instead of styrofoam peanuts.

TOPS Ltd. have donated a shredder for the project.

Through the project CedarBridge Academy will save money, as buying note pads will be unnecessary and the use of shredded paper instead of styrofoam peanuts will reduce the danger to the environment.

Also the shredded paper will be shipped off the Island, most likely finding its way into an overseas recycling programme, further reducing the demand on the world's natural resources.

All invited attendees will meet at the principal's office at 11.45 a.m. on January 14.
