Man linked to sex assault bailed
connection with the sexual assault of a nine-year-old Southampton boy.
Suspects can only be held for 72 hours for questioning and the man was arrested sometime last weekend.
People released on Police bail are subject to being called in for further questioning and possibly being charged.
The mother of the boy was awakened shortly after 3 a.m. on December 22 by the sound of a door opening.
Minutes later she heard the boy scream and discovered a man with the boy. The perpetrator escaped.
PROPERTU RANSACKED CRM Property ransacked A St. Anne's Road, Southampton woman reported to Police that her residence had been ransacked.
She left the house secure that morning, but returned just after noon to find that someone had gained forced entry into the home. The culprit had ransacked all the rooms, taking an undisclosed amount of cash and some jewellery.
Police are investigating.
THIEF RUINS VACATION CRM Thief ruins vacation A visiting couple had their vacation ruined by a thief yesterday.
The couple parked their livery cycle at Church Bay, Southampton at 11.30 a.m.
They locked a green Gore-Tex jacket in the storage compartment before heading to the beach.
Later, at a Pembroke restaurant, they discovered the jacket had been removed.
The jacket contained a wallet along with various denominations of cash, credit cards, identification and a passport. There are no suspects at this time.
HANDBAG SNATCHED CRM Handbag snatched A thief stole a handbag from a locked car last night. The car owner told Police she parked it on the corner of Victoria and Union Streets about 9 p.m.
after securing it.
She returned at midnight to discover that someone had removed a green shoulder bag, containing a wallet, cash and credit cards.
A search of the area yielded none of the stolen items.
MAN, 25, ASSAULTED CRM Man, 25, assaulted Police received a report that a 25-year-old Hamilton parish man was assaulted on Monday night.
The victim, attending a function at Number 1 Shed around midnight, was suddenly struck on the head with an unknown object.
He was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where he received stitches to a wound above his right eye. Police are investigating.
BUILDER TO EXPAND PLN BUC Builder to expand Baptiste Builders Supply Limited has received a Christmas gift from the Development Applications Board.
Plans to expand the company warehouse and access area were recently approved by the DAB.
Martin Willingale, the company's CEO, said: "It's just an extension to the building needed to hold the increasing stocks and tidy up the yard. This will help us provide better service to our customers.'' Mr. Willingale said the company plans to begin building early in the new year.
However, he was unsure of the overall cost of the project, saying it should cost "a few dollars''.
