Devonshire man faces trial in Supreme Court
A Devonshire man faced nine indictable charges related to theft yesterday in Magistrates' Court.
Kevin Glenn Howard, 38 of Boundary Crescent was charges with these offences between March and July of this year. He was not required to enter a plea because these charges will be answered in Supreme Court.
The defendant allegedly stole a black Honda Scoopy valued at $1,000 on March 19 in Pembroke and caused wilful damage to the cycle exceeding $60.
Howard was charged with taking without consent of the owner a PGOT motorcycle for his personal use causing damage on May 11 and repeated the offence exactly one month later.
He is charged with taking without consent of the owner another cycle for his or another's personal use on July 31.
Howard also charged with assaulting a Police officers during arrest, violently resisting arrest, possession of a home-made pipe in relation to narcotics and possession of an offensive weapon, namely a crash helmet.
The defendant was released on $5,000 bail with one light surety. He will appear for mention on August 25.
Howard also had two other matters related to theft.
He pleaded not guilty to entering a dwelling house as a trespasser and stealing four DVD's, a container of strawberry sherbert, a Dell laptop, Nike' black leather gloves, two rings and two cells phones on June 21 valued at $1,620.
His trial for that matter will take place on September 11.
Howard was also charged with entering, as a trespasser, Fat Man's Cafe with the intent to steal.
The defendant was bailed in the amount of $2,000 for both matters. His trial will take place on September 7.
