Easier access to CompuServe

the world's largest provider of on-line services on the information superhighway, reports Internet Bermuda Ltd. (IBL).

"IBL, the gateway company which provides Bermuda computer users with local dial-up access to the Internet, is now able to offer `point an click' Spry software to CompuServe subscribers as well as access via a local phone call.

Previously, local users had to connect with the US-based service by placing a long distance call,'' according to a release from IBL.

The announcement follows the $100 million acquisition of Seattle-based Spry Inc. by Ohio-based CompuServe last month.

Spry manufacturers the leading Internet access product, Internet In a Box, while CompuServe supplies information services to over 2.7 million people.

IBL is the exclusive distributor of Spry software in Bermuda and is now offering CompuServe/Spry's WinCIM 1.4 software which will enable CompuServe users to access the service using the Microsoft Windows environment common on most personal computers.

"Until now, Bermuda users could get CompuServe without Spry but they did not have the `easy to use' graphic element that is now available. WinCIM enables users to access CompuServe's vast resources without losing the graphic interphase they are familiar with,'' said Mr. Tony Harriott, said IBL manager.

IBL will soon introduce "roaming service'' which will give business travellers access to their electronic mail in Bermuda from a laptop computer using toll-free or local access number.
